A time of activity, hustle and hurry,
Unfinished business, frantic and worry.
Moments of joy, surprise and pleasure,
Tearing through mounds of wrapped treasure.

Food for an army and parties abounding,
Eating, drinking and carols resounding.
Loneliness….. lonelier… for those forgotten,
Children wondering what Santa’s brought them.

Scarcely a moment to think of That birth,
A stable at night, of God come to earth.
For God so loved the people below,
And yearned in His heart that they should know,
His plan for their life and how it could be,
If they went with Him, when He bid, “Follow Me.”

For years He had tried to show them His love,
Through prophets, miracles and signs above.
But man continued to misunderstand,
To see God as angry and heavy of hand.

So Jesus was sent by His Father above,
To show the world His wonderful love.
Love that would reach to the ends of earth,
To give each one a Second Birth.

Love so deep that they could see,
A power and spirit to set them free.
Our sins beneath the cross are laid,
As we accept the price He paid.

Knowing that He, in our place stood,
Washing our sins with His own Blood.
For His power is nothing… has no command,
Until we reach out and take His hand.

Commit our lives, our heart and will,
Stand in His presence… quiet and still.

Then He begins to change our life,
Bringing peace where once was strife,
Sending His Spirit down from above,
To dwell in our hearts and teach us to love.
